Our Story

‘Kandhi’ is a Sanskrit word meaning; Ocean. The metaphor portrays the idea of vast and limitless possibilities in design and handicrafts of India. The journey of brand Kandhi started with a small idea of developing fashion and lifestyle products from natural resources, implementing handmade processes and creating a value system for artisans. 

Jute is a vastly grown plant in eastern India and widely used in industrial packaging. The usage of jute dates back to the Indus Valley Civilisation and is well known as the golden fiber due to its colour and high cash value. Our concept here was to transform jute fiber which is  widely used to make burlap, hessian or gunny cloth into a beautiful, innovative and sustainable fashion product for the global market, followed by developing a livelihood cycle for artisans. 

Our team of master artisans and designers work hand on hand in every project and that’s how Kandhi creates space for itself and customers across the globe. The root of every Kandhi product by virtue is handmade with love, eco-friendly to nature and recycled for future.
